THE JOURNEY SO FAR

THE JOURNEY SO FAR

THE JOURNEY SO FAR  An interview With Jane Jackson   Recently I was featured on Jane Jackson’s “AMAZING PODCAST” and it really gave me a great chance to reflect on the career changes that I have made over the years. I also got a chance to really appreciate those changes that were thrust upon me along the way.      I have also spent some time this week segmenting the interview into smaller themes and getting them transcribed to make it easier to listen to as your time allows. If you prefer you can follow along by reading the questions and answers.       WHERE IT ALL BEGAN (2REM FM)   Podcasting really is my thing and the whole idea came about out of my love of radio. Here’s me doing my very first radio show in March 1982 at 2REM FM in Albury. I still have a recording of that first show (on cassette - lol)     Jane Jackson: Welcome to my careers podcast, where I interview fascinating professionals who have made amazing career changes. Now, I am very fortunate to have, on the show, a twitter guru. This twitter guru is Keith Keller, who is now well known internationally as the Global Twitter Marketing Specialist. He is a popular speaker on the subject too. He’s appeared on numerous radio shows, teleseminars and webinars across the United States and Canada, UK and Europe as well as Australasia. His regular tweets, @KeithKeller, are testament to his passion for sharing the latest information about Twitter, as well as other social media platforms. He certainly has an ever growing list...
UNDERSTANDING GOOGLE ANALYTICS

UNDERSTANDING GOOGLE ANALYTICS

UNDERSTANDING GOOGLE ANALYTICS  A Guest Blog Post & Free eBook From Karen Repoli  Understanding Google Analytics (Free eBook) (1) What Google Analytics Can Do For You   Welcome to Understanding Google Analytics Crash Course. In this special report you will learn the ins and outs of using Google Analytics to monitor your website, track visitors and enhance its overall performance. First, let’s talk a little about what Google Analytics is and what it can do. Google Analytics, also commonly referred to as GA, is one of the many services offered by the search engine giant Google. It is primarily a resource which Internet marketers and webmasters or companies owning website’s can use to measure the performance of their sites using statistics. The statistics record every activity to, on and from the website which helps the Internet marketers, webmasters or companies to know exactly how their website is performing. Although Google Analytics is a tool predominantly purposed for Internet marketers, webmasters and bloggers also use this powerful resource and find it immensely helpful. With GA the performance of a website is assessed in many ways, a company would typically look at the end results which would be sales or lead generation eventually leading to more revenue through Internet marketing. However, the consequential factor of sales and lead generation are preceded by various stages and different kinds of activities on the website. Google Analytics records the traffic to a website, the redirected or rerouted visitors from other sites, search engines, directories, advertising platforms or even people accessing a website by directly entering the URL onto a browser. Five Powerful Marketing Strategies ((Podcast))

Five Powerful Marketing Strategies ((Podcast))

Five Powerful Marketing Strategies Fantastic Ways To Build Your Visibility 1. BE THE RESOURCE NOT THE SALESPERSON.  Twitter is about sharing information and resources NOT selling ‘stuff’. This may sound counter-intuitive but it is the essence of Social Media marketing. 2. WRITE A STRONG BIO. One that will inspire potential clients and joint venture partners to follow you. 3. ADD A PHOTO OR COMPANY GRAPHIC. There is significant evidence to prove that people who do this get more followers and retweets 4. REMEMBER THE 80/20 RULE – IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT YOU.  4 out of 5 tweets should be of value to your followers and not sales related Only 1 out of every 5 tweets  should be a sales related message. 1 out of 10 however is a far better ratio if you can manage it. 5. SHARE – SHARE –SHARE (This is Twitter 101).  Share great articles and interact with your followers…this is the essence of how Twitter works. TWITTER WRITE UPDATE #CheersFromDownUnder

TWITTER WRITE UPDATE #CheersFromDownUnder

I’ve just returned from an incredible trip to Broome with my wife.  There were incredibly sunsets, camels, brilliant tucker… A real “FAIR DINKUM” Aussie holiday. All good things must come to an end however so it’s back to what I do best - Twitter!! When I left Twitter Write was in full swing. Sarah was generating great numbers, making incredible contacts and really taking her Twitter presence to the next level. Now I’ll admit that every now and again, I’d check in on Sarah’s progress and what I started seeing was incredible. More followers by the day, incredible reach and two of her articles covering the MS Patient Summit in Rome had gone viral. And it’s all thanks to Twitter! These days, I’ve started calling Sarah my star student because TWITTER MAGIC 123 is working and she’s doing amazing things with it. It’s a really simple formula:  1. Follow First 2. Follow Back 3. Follow Up You don’t have to be a writer to use this recipe – It’ll work for anyone who spares the time to jump onto Twitter and make it work for them. As you’ll hear in our big catch-up podcast for the week, what Sarah has done is taken the basic formula and devised her own strategy around the basic concept. At the end of the day, she knows what’s working for her and she’s using every bit of knowledge she has to take it all to the next level. Watch this space people: it’s all happening before our eyes. You can also listen to the other podcasts in the Twitter Write series via SoundCloud. “TWITTER...
TWITTER FOLLOWERS OR “TWEET REACH”

TWITTER FOLLOWERS OR “TWEET REACH”

TWITTER FOLLOWERS OR “TWEET REACH” INSTEAD?   Over the years, I’ve worked with a broad range of clients across the globe looking for Twitter marketing solutions to provide them with that extra added boost for their online. Regardless of their background, every Twitter newbie believes this myth: The key to their success on Twitter is the amount of followers they’ve generated  So, let me point out, the number of followers you have is important. It does sound pretty cool to tell people you have 34,000 (ish) followers when pitching an idea to them.  Realistically though, it’s your “TWEET REACH”  that is much more important.     Why is Tweet Reach so important? Let me explain using 2 examples… Twitter Write is all about using professional writer, Sarah Cannata, as a case study to showcase how Twitter can act as the launching pad for a writer’s career. Like so many writers and creatives out there, Sarah is awesome, but she’s competing in a world full of talented people. So, I’ll give you two examples to illustrate what I mean in terms of reach and followers here. Example #1 – Sarah has 1000 followers  www.Twitter.com/CannataAU Out of these followers, Sarah has already managed to connect with some of them directly and organised some meaningful projects.  A key part of her engaging with these people stems from the fact that through her tweets and shares she’s managed to reach over 2 million people. 2 MILLION!! How many times in Sarah’s career would she be able to say she’s reached 2 million people around the world? VERY COOL INDEED!! TWITTER REALLY WORKS!! http://t.co/bXloE3l2YB...
