HASHTAGS (#) The Magical Ingredient On Twitter When celebrities such as Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon start talking about something, you know it’s big. The duo made a very cool video about Twitter hashtags that was so successful they decided to make a sequel. So when it comes to Twitter marketing tactics, hashtags really are that magic ingredient that makes Twitter what it is. It’s that element that has the power to change everything for you. In a nutshell, hashtags make words live and breathe in “THE TWITTERVERSE” There are 3 main ways you can use hashtags and I explain them in great detail in the podcast above: (1) POWER WORDS (2) CREATE YOUR OWN HASHTAG (3) TRENDING TOPICS In a world where there are “9,000 Tweets Every Second” on Twitter now and hashtags are a fantastic marketing tool to help you “STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD” Use it as a tool to get people to find you and from there, to follow you. They allow you to share your information with the people who really want to hear it. While Twitter has an in-built tool that’ll tell you what’s trending at any point in time, have a look at this nifty website if you’re after more detailed information: www.HASHTAGS.org You’ll be able to see what’s trending, what’s popular and look at graphs that can help you to decide what words/terms to hashtag. In my tweets, hashtags are the secret sauce, the joiner, the glue that makes Twitter stand out from its competitors. They’re a great way to spruik your next workshop, event, a new book release book and...

SAVE TIME BY SCHEDULING YOUR TWEETS Tweeting live is always better if you can manage it, but we’re also real human beings and we need to eat, sleep and enjoy downtime with our loved ones because that’s what life is really all about! One of the great things about Twitter marketing is that is really is possible to have a global vision and schedule your tweets to have a presence on Twitter even while you’re sleeping. Statistics tell me that more than 55% of my followers are based in the US and less than 13% of people are following me here in Australia. AMAZING!! That means that when I’m ready to call it a day, my followers are eating breakfast. I’ll admit that I have tried to stay up until 3am but it’s really quite hard to do consistently. I have 3 favourites when it comes to scheduling my tweets ahead of time: BUFFER HOOTSUITE GREMLN Now, I want you to check out each for yourself and decide which one best suits your needs but I like Buffer for one reason: I’m really REALLY hopeless when it comes to admin. What Buffer does is that it allows you to hop into your account once, set all of the times you want to be tweeting, and then it just works in with whatever’s been programmed in. All you need to do is copy/paste any links you want to tweet out. That means that at this point in time, I’ve got about 6 months’ worth of tweets ready to go. Now, it does cost about $10 per...

HOW TO TWEET YOUR WAY TO GLOBAL SUCCESS How Far Did Your Tweets Travel? The most common question I get these days is: How do I get more followers? Don’t get me wrong, it’s important to generate followers but is not everything. Followers are one thing but solid, good quality connections are another thing entirely. With that in mind, let me introduce you to one of my favourite websites: www.TweetReach.com This AWESOME site tracks: How many followers you have. How many people are retweeting you? How many followers your connections have. The total number of followers reached. This is what we refer to as “TWEET REACH” Tweet Reach 4 @KeithKeller I’ve spoken quite a few times now about how one day “3 MILLION PEOPLE” saw my tweets. Pretty cool, but did this happen? Basically, the stars aligned and because I’ve helped a lot of people out in the past, they retweeted me and by the time a few people with thousands of followers did that, I had reached over 3 million people that day. I’ve said many times before that unless someone out there is listening, there’s not much point in being on any social media platform, much less Twitter. One way to gather a loyal list of “listeners” is to retweet others first. At the simple click of a button, you can retweet someone else’s messages and help to spread the word about what they are doing. It’s one of the easiest things you’ll ever do with Twitter. Another thing you can try is using hashtags!! Don’t worry, I go into hashtags in great detail in an...

HIT THE GROUND RUNNING WITH TWITTER Getting Your Twitter Marketing Right From The Start!! So, we’re up to part three of Crack the Twitter Code and we’ve covered the bare basics, so now let’s delve more into getting your marketing mix right. Be The Resource - Not The Salesperson This is Twitter 101 but you’d be surprised as to how many people immediately try to sell you something after connecting with them. Don’t become another number! You wouldn’t walk up to someone on the street and ask them to buy a product or service of yours straight up. So why do people do it on social media? Whenever I’m mentoring someone, I ask them to think of their page as a content rich source for others to land on. Whatever industry you’re involved in, fill up your Twitter feed with content that’s engaging, share worthy and informative. Not sales pitch after sales pitch!! Get Your Bio Right & Add An Image How many times have you been interested in a Tweet, only to go fishing for more information and land on a profile that’s completely empty? People are busy. If you don’t have the information they’re seeking at the touch of their fingertips, they’re not going to Google you. They’ll lose interest very quickly. Any good bio clearly establishes what you do and includes a link to your website or a page people can learn about you, and a good profile image. Not comfortable with having a photo of yourself online? That’s all well and good but remember, Twitter isn’t Facebook. If you’re a life coach with...

THREE HASHTAGS & A HOOKY TITLE www.ThatsJournal.com Recently I was interviewed by online magazine Thats Journal - Here are some highlights 1) Please tell us more about yourself? Keith: I am a “Global Twitter Marketing Specialist” from Melbourne, Australia. I work from home, live 10 minutes from the beach and an hour from the city ( … and never the twain shall meet - lol ) 2) How to get more targeted Twitter followers? Keith: THE BEST WAY TO HAVE FRIENDS IS THE BE ONE!!! The best way to get followers is to post useful content daily and to actively follow people who you are interested in. When they follow you back engage with them and help them first before asking for anything in return. This is how I have built sooooo many great friendships around the world. 3) How to get more retweets? Keith: CONTENT – CONTENT – CONTENT The best way to get retweeted is to share great content. You can also use relevant hashtags to widen your reach but it comes down to how “SHAREABLE” your content is. 4) What is the ideal frequency for scheduling tweets? Keith: FIRST THING IN THE MORNING – LAST THING AT NIGHT There are a lot of differing opinions on this but most people agree on this basic idea. Some times to try could be: 8am and/or 8pm 10pm (ish) seems to be a POWER TIME in some parts of the world Other than that have fun with your tweets and try different times to “SEE WHAT HAPPENS”. 5) What are the ingredients required for a perfect tweet? Keith: THREE HASHTAGS & A HOOK I...
