THE POWER OF PODCASTING

THE POWER OF PODCASTING

THE POWER OF PODCASTING Anyone who knows me knows that I’m always on the go, running full steam ahead with various projects. It has been a real struggle to sit down and write anything for this blog (you’ll notice that I use a lot of pictures and podcasts on my previous ones). Until that little lightbulb went off in my head and I realised just how important this message is:   PLAY TO YOUR STRENGTHS   Okay, so I’m not the world’s most eager writer but I LOVE podcasting. And thankfully, more and more people are listening to podcasts these days. WHY? I mentioned how I’m always on the go, working on multiple things at once. People are extremely time poor – Today’s world is go-go-go! Not to mention, a lot of people are feeling the pinch which means people are commuting more and for longer periods of time. So, if you’re stuck on a train, bus, tram or even riding a book, would you rather:   A: Listen to the same old music you’ve been listening to for years. B: Stare aimlessly at your surroundings C: Learn something new   I’m not sure about you, but I’d choose C: Learn something new any day. Time is a precious commodity these days… If you haven’t already discovered podcasts, give them a shot. Here’s one that I did a few years ago now - Hope that it provides some inspiration  You never know, you might be so inspired by what you hear that you start your own.         OVER 30 MORE FREE PODCASTS HERE!!...
5 WAYS TO GROW YOUR FOLLOWING

5 WAYS TO GROW YOUR FOLLOWING

5 WAYS TO GROW YOUR FOLLOWING A guest blog by the team at Virtual Professionnelle (Part 1 - Instagram)      (1) #Hashtags   We all know that using Trending Hashtags will increase your exposure in the Instagram world. But then again makes sure that you do not over use it –  because chances are, other people might think that you are a bot or a spammer specially when you begin to flood their timeline. In using #hashtags always make sure that you use specific hashtags based on what your target audience or market. You can instantly gain visibility and reach if the the hashtags that you use are one of those trending topics that people are actively and currently talk about. You can create your own #hashtag but don’t make it too lengthy.  The limit for Hashtags on Instagram is 30 per post but please don’t do that many, excessive hashtags are a definite no-no  Let common sense prevail here!!  This video by Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake clearly demonstrates just how silly some people can be with hashtags “#Hashtag” with Jimmy Fallon & Justin Timberlake   (2) Awesome Photos and/or Videos   Instagram is made for posting photos isn’t it. For any individual account as well as for small or large businesses make sure that you post  photos or videos that are appealing, unique, trendy and relatable. Our followers sometimes do follow us because of the photos, quotes, and videos that we create so we make sure that we keep our followers updated with interesting posts based on their liking.   (3)  Follow - Like - Comment...

TWITTER MAGIC 123 ((#TwitterWrite)) Growth Hacking Your Twitter Marketing!!

TWITTER MAGIC 123 Growth Hacking Your Twitter Marketing!! Recently, I have been playing around with a new growth hacking formula I call:  “TWITTER MAGIC 123”   (1) Follow First   (2) Follow Back   (3) Follow Up   Here is an interview I did with Melbourne writer Sarah Cannata about how this simple formula sky rocketed her on-line success in less than 4 weeks. AMAZING STUFF!! TWITTER MAGIC 123 ((Downloadable PDF)) This podcast is part of a 4 part series I recorded with Sarah recently. www.Twitter4Writers.com Sarah Cannata (@CannataAU)   Hey, this is professional writer, Sarah Cannata, and welcome to the Twitter Write podcast. Before I go any further, let me introduce you to global Twitter marketing specialist, Keith Keller. Keith, welcome. Keith Keller (@KeithKeller)         “TWITTER MAGIC 123” ((The Full Interview))   Hey! Look, it’s been almost a month, you know, since we had our last podcast. And I don’t believe how much you’ve achieved in 4 weeks. It’s less than 4 weeks. And I think you had at that time 265 followers. You hadn’t done that already awesome article with Kaz, which went viral. You’re up to 900 followers now. You’re gonna crack a thousand in less than 6 weeks. And this stuff is working. It’s so exciting. Sarah:                          I mean, it definitely is. The kind of numbers that I’m reaching 6 weeks after we first started chatting, I mean, a month— it’s only been a month since you’ve been away and some of the stats and the numbers that we’ve got pretty much proves that what we’re doing here is working. So, I mean, I’ll run...

TWITTER WRITE UPDATE #CheersFromDownUnder

TWITTER WRITE UPDATE #CheersFromDownUnder

I’ve just returned from an incredible trip to Broome with my wife.  There were incredibly sunsets, camels, brilliant tucker… A real “FAIR DINKUM” Aussie holiday. All good things must come to an end however so it’s back to what I do best - Twitter!! When I left Twitter Write was in full swing. Sarah was generating great numbers, making incredible contacts and really taking her Twitter presence to the next level. Now I’ll admit that every now and again, I’d check in on Sarah’s progress and what I started seeing was incredible. More followers by the day, incredible reach and two of her articles covering the MS Patient Summit in Rome had gone viral. And it’s all thanks to Twitter! These days, I’ve started calling Sarah my star student because TWITTER MAGIC 123 is working and she’s doing amazing things with it. It’s a really simple formula:  1. Follow First 2. Follow Back 3. Follow Up You don’t have to be a writer to use this recipe – It’ll work for anyone who spares the time to jump onto Twitter and make it work for them. As you’ll hear in our big catch-up podcast for the week, what Sarah has done is taken the basic formula and devised her own strategy around the basic concept. At the end of the day, she knows what’s working for her and she’s using every bit of knowledge she has to take it all to the next level. Watch this space people: it’s all happening before our eyes. You can also listen to the other podcasts in the Twitter Write series via SoundCloud. “TWITTER...
What Would You Tell Your Younger Self?

What Would You Tell Your Younger Self?

What Would You Tell Your Younger Self? A while ago, my good friend Laura Waage asked me what I’d tell me younger self. In fact, she painted this picture for me: So Keith, it’s 1985. Marty McFly shows up at your door to take you back in time. Knowing what you now know, what piece of advice would you give to your newbie self? I’m bringing this up now because a very special event is heading our way later this year that ties into this notion of advising our future selves: Back To The Future Day (21 October 2015) When Laura first asked me this question, it got me thinking. It’s a hard one to answer. In 1985 I had just moved to Melbourne – I remember sporting a jacket very similar to the one Michael J. Fox had in the original. I looked every bit as much of a coast guard due as Michael did. The shoes, the clothes… I was basically Marty McFly minus the DeLorean. In a nutshell, my piece of advice to myself would be very simple: “Trust yourself. You’re bloody awesome. You will be OK.” The more I thought about this at the time, the more I remembered feeling angry. When I was 18 in the mid ‘80s, I had goals and dreams but I just didn’t follow through with them. I was scared. So much so that I didn’t jump when opportunities presented themselves. And we all know how quickly good opportunities disappear. Instead, I played it safe… Did the sensible thing. Sucked up people’s nasty comments. Anyone who knows me will recognise those...
TWITTER FOLLOWERS OR “TWEET REACH”

TWITTER FOLLOWERS OR “TWEET REACH”

TWITTER FOLLOWERS OR “TWEET REACH” INSTEAD?   Over the years, I’ve worked with a broad range of clients across the globe looking for Twitter marketing solutions to provide them with that extra added boost for their online. Regardless of their background, every Twitter newbie believes this myth: The key to their success on Twitter is the amount of followers they’ve generated  So, let me point out, the number of followers you have is important. It does sound pretty cool to tell people you have 34,000 (ish) followers when pitching an idea to them.  Realistically though, it’s your “TWEET REACH”  that is much more important.     Why is Tweet Reach so important? Let me explain using 2 examples… Twitter Write is all about using professional writer, Sarah Cannata, as a case study to showcase how Twitter can act as the launching pad for a writer’s career. Like so many writers and creatives out there, Sarah is awesome, but she’s competing in a world full of talented people. So, I’ll give you two examples to illustrate what I mean in terms of reach and followers here. Example #1 – Sarah has 1000 followers  www.Twitter.com/CannataAU Out of these followers, Sarah has already managed to connect with some of them directly and organised some meaningful projects.  A key part of her engaging with these people stems from the fact that through her tweets and shares she’s managed to reach over 2 million people. 2 MILLION!! How many times in Sarah’s career would she be able to say she’s reached 2 million people around the world? VERY COOL INDEED!! TWITTER REALLY WORKS!! http://t.co/bXloE3l2YB...
